FRANKFORT, KY – On Tuesday January 4, 2022, Dr. Rand Paul officially filed for re-election with the Kentucky Secretary of State’s office. Dr. Paul will be running for a third term in the United States Senate.

Since first being elected to the Senate in 2010, Dr. Paul has always put Kentucky first, standing up for Kentuckians’ liberty, economic freedom, safer communities, and a fairer justice system.

Dr. Paul is one of the leading voices for fiscal conservatism. He has never once voted for an unbalanced budget and insists that new spending be offset with cuts from elsewhere in the budget. Dr. Paul also continues to fight government waste and abuse, shining light on hundreds of absurd projects that most Kentuckians would agree need to be eliminated.

He’s proposed the Penny Plan to balance the budget, and a plan to fully fund our infrastructure in Kentucky and across the nation by cutting waste. Dr. Paul has been a champion for the entire Bill of Rights, and for the life and liberty of every person he represents. Furthermore, as part of his commitment to safeguarding the taxpayers’ money, he has also returned over $5.2 million dollars of his office funds back to the U.S. Treasury.

“I pledge to uphold the Constitution, to protect Kentucky from overzealous bureaucrats, and defend our God-given rights,” said Dr. Paul.

Dr. Paul has also been at the forefront of addressing America’s role abroad. Particularly, Dr. Paul has led bipartisan legislation to reduce our involvement in foreign wars and safely bring our troops home. He’s also offered legislation to reward those who served.

“I’m proud to be a voice of reason in the Senate when it comes to our foreign affairs,” continued Dr. Paul. “For far too long leaders have tried to send our sons and daughters to fight never ending wars. That’s why I’ve worked with Republicans and Democrats alike to ensure that our military is strong but is only used for defending our country, not nation building abroad.”

Dr. Paul currently serves as the Ranking Member on the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship. He also serves on the Committee on Foreign Relations, Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP), as well as on the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.

“It’s a true honor to serve my fellow Kentuckians in the U.S. Senate,” Dr. Paul said. “Over the next 11 months, I look forward to again asking for their trust and their vote to return to Washington to continue fighting for balanced budgets and limited, Constitutional government.”

Dr. Paul is married to his wife, Kelley Paul, and they live in Bowling Green, Kentucky, where Dr. Paul owned his own small business and ophthalmology practice for over 18 years. Together, they have three sons, William, Duncan, and Robert
